Construction Progress Continues at New Artemis Academy in Faringdon

Construction work is progressing well at Artemis Academy, the new specialist school currently being built in Faringdon. As a first in class Therapeutic Day School, Artemis will provide high-quality education and therapeutic support for children and young people with additional needs.

Overseen by the Department for Education, the purpose-built academy, which is being developed by The Gallery Trust in partnership with contractor Tilbury Douglas, is taking shape on the site of the former Faringdon Infant School. Designed to support up to 104 pupils, the new facility will provide specialist classrooms, sensory and breakout spaces, outdoor learning environments and dedicated therapeutic provision.

Recent project milestones have seen the completion of key construction phases, and with the steel framework now in place, the main building structure is clearly visible as work continues on internal spaces and external facilities. Project partners have described the development as an important investment in specialist education provision across Oxfordshire.

Once complete, Artemis Academy will offer a nurturing and inclusive environment for pupils with a range of special educational needs and disabilities, including social, emotional and mental health needs and autism spectrum conditions. The school is expected to open in January 2027, helping to meet growing local demand for specialist places and enabling more children to access support closer to home.
