Governance and Leadership

The Gallery Trust Board of Trustees is responsible for the management, performance and strategic direction of the MAT and holds each academy in the MAT to account. The Board has four Committees:

  • Finance and Personnel
  • Audit and Risk
  • Health and Safety
  • Chief Executive Officer Performance Management

Each academy has its own Local Governing Body (LGB). LGBs are accountable to the Trust for the quality of educational outcomes within their academy, and for meeting Trust requirements.
LGBs have three Committees:

  • Teaching and Learning
  • Personal Development, Welfare and Safeguarding
  • Head Teacher Performance Management

In addition, the MAT has advisory boards, which provide forums for collaboration and the sharing of best practice. Powers and responsibilities are delegated by the Board of Trustees to LGBs and Committees through a Scheme of Delegation which is reviewed annually.

The Gallery Trust’s Chief Executive Officer is an ex-officio Trustee and is Accounting Officer. The CEO is accountable to the Board of Trustees and supports Head Teachers by providing authoritative advice, coaching and mentoring, allowing Head Teachers to focus on teaching and learning, pastoral care and consolidating excellence in each academy.
